RM1623 is captured seemingly abandoned by all but it's on the stand for route 171 on Woodside Gardens off Bruce Grove in Tottenham.
Momentarily earlier it had roared into view with a mechanic at the wheel, oily overalls et al. A running board has been left in the cab but unlikely for the crew who would be subbing their RM for this example for the next crew. It would also give the relief crew some private transportation back to AR...!
A chalked '7' can be seen but unlikely to be for the 171.
Such was the general trust that the driver's door is left open and the open platform would provide a 'waiting room' for any intending passengers for the next departure. Sights like this were commonplace around the country until the advent of doored buses.
