COMMENT by reader

The problem was Ongar Comprehensive school. Before they changed the timetable in 1970 two journeys left Ongar (Cripsey Avenue) within a few minutes of each other purely to cope with the amount of school hour traffic in Ongar and to a lesser extent in Stapleford and Havering. However this also meant that one crew going to Ongar had a two hour wait before their scheduled time to return, my dads conductor used to go fishing!
This was stopped in 1970 and the one bus in school time couldn't cope.although I was surprised at that as the 339 had a good service then. 

They kinda solved the problem by running the 175A on a scheduled service from Cripsey Avenue to the Two Brewers, then to the school, pick up the rowdy kids and then back on route to Romford.
