Comment from Lee Davis
The opening of the Tramlink system was delayed by three months, however the original date coincided with a raft of other bus service changes which were due to take place, involving additional work for South Croydon Garage. (One of the changes, if I recall, was the extension of route 466 from Shirley to Addington Village but there were others). As a result of the delayed opening, however, the T-prefix feeder routes due to be introduced were also postponed. This led to Cowie South London requiring more drivers than we had planned for, whilst Metrobus had buses and drivers for the T33 who had no work. It made sense, therefore, for them to use these on the TL1 and for our employees to be redirected to the additional work taken on within the garage.
